Large white marble sculpture representing the heroes of Henryk Sienkiewicz's novel entitled Quo Vadis: novel of Neronian times. This novel published in France in 1900, very successful in bookstores, tells the love story of a Roman practitioner, Marcus Vinicius and a young Christian girl, Callina, nicknamed Lygia, daughter of the king of the Lygians.
This sculpture depicts the lovers seated on the steps of Rome accompanied by two kissing doves symbolizing love and peace. Vinicius, below, seems to declare his love, while Lygia, lascivious, listens to his words. Quo Vadis is engraved on the parterre in front.
Carried out with meticulousness, this decorative work will delight with its symbolism and charisma.
