    The Battle of Tolbiac pitted the Franks , who fought under the command of Clovis I , against the Alemanni . 
    The date of the battle is traditionally given as 496 . 
    The site of "Tolbiac" , or "Tolbiacum" , is generally given as Zulpich , in North Rhine-Westphalia , about 60 km east of what is today the German-Belgian border . 
    The Franks succeeded at Tolbiac and established their domination . 
    Signature of the sculptor "E.Drouot" intaglio , on the richly decorated naturalistic terrace .

    He exhibited at the Paris Salon , from 1889 . 
    Sometimes creating animal and orientalist works , Edouard Drouot's sculptures , whether of animals or people , are characterized by a sense of movement and an expressive touch . 

    Today , Edouard Drouot's work can be found , among others , in the collections of the Courtauld Institute in London and the Indiana University Museum of Art in Bloomington . 
    The artist died in 1945 in Paris .
