Bronze sculpture with brownish-brown patina depicting Eve standing in the Garden of Eden, the snake wrapped around her arm with the apple in her mouth, signed Dom. Van Den Bossche*, on a green marble base, from the second half of the 19th century.

* Dominique Van den Bossche (1854-1906) :
was a sculptor born in Ghent (Belgium). He was a pupil of Louis Van Biesbroeck, Theodore Canneel and Pierre De Vigne-Quyo. His most famous works include the bust of Désiré Van Monckhoven, that of Professor Boddaert, and the statues of Jacob and Philip Van Artevelde on the corner of Belfortstraat in Ghent. He also worked regularly with architect Jacob Semey. He created a medal for Dr. Victor Deneffe. He is known for his historical scenes and portraits. As a sculptor, he designed statues and funerary statues.
