Large bronze with double patina representing the 15th-century Florentine Singer, signed P Dubois Fr.
The young, elegant boy, standing, plays and sings, leaning against a column: the sculptor has paid close attention to many details, in the clothing (shoes, buttons...) the musical instrument...

Paul Dubois, born in 1869, was a French sculptor who studied at the Beaux Arts in Paris and then in Rome.
Impressed by Italian Renaissance sculpture, he became the leader of the so-called "Florentine" sculptors. The 15th-century Florentine Singer was exhibited at the 1865 Salon, winning the Medal of Honor and becoming one of the most popular sculptures of the period.
The Florentine Singer was produced in several sizes and patinas, one of which is on display at the Louvre Museum in silver-plated bronze.
