Pair of Bronze Gondola Seahorses From the 19th Century.
The seahorse, or "sea horse", is in Greek mythology a fantastic creature whose front part is that of a horse, i.e. the head, neck and two front legs, and the rear part that of a fish, a snake or a sea monster. Described as sea horses. These models are still used today, placed on each side of the condole, extended by reins in moorings for the boat.
Very decorative bronze with patina of time. in good general condition.
