Bronze sculpture with brown patina "Nymph with poppies" signed Gustave OBIOLS. This depicts a young woman walking with a walking stick in her left hand. Her head is crowned with a wreath of poppy flowers and leaves on an undone bun. Bare-chested, she is draped in a cape held in place by an ornate belt and thong. She wears sandals. In her hand she holds a bouquet of poppy flowers. The terrace, treated like a rock, is decorated with leaves and signed G. Obiols. The bronze bears the EU mark and the foundry stamp "Médaille d'Or Paris". This is a sand cast. This work is influenced by the Art Nouveau movement which particularly likes the poppy motif and the sinuous lines as in the hair of this figure.

Gustave OBIOLS (1858-1910) is a Spanish sculptor who came to work in Paris at the end of the 19th century. He joined the workshops of Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse and participated regularly in the Salon from 1889. He was awarded a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900
