Large bronze sculpture signed Mauro Corda* representing a naked man in skin, stamped by the Delval Foundry (Cire Perdue) and numbered 1/8, vintage 1980s-90s 20th century. This sculpture is in very good condition and is of exceptional quality. Signed and numbered on the base. Foundry stamp “Cire Perdue Delval”. Note: slight wear and tear, see photos. * Mauro Corda (1960): After studying with Charles Auffret at the Beaux-Arts in Reims, this son of a mason born in Lourdes joined the workshop of Jean Cardot at the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1981, before winning the competition at Casa Velázquez in Madrid in 1985. Since then, he has exhibited all over the world and developed an aesthetic vocabulary of his own. Whether in bronze, resin, aluminum or cast iron, his sculptures probe the limits of the body, animal or human. In Florence, the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno and the Villa Finaly are exhibiting nearly fifty works, including around twenty specially created for the occasion by the Massimo del Chiaro Art Foundry, in Pietrasanta. At the Accademia, an army of dwarves revisits the Italian Renaissance – Botticelli's Venus, Michelangelo's David or Mantegna's Saint Sebastian – up to the superheroes of American comics, while the Villa Finaly welcomes “Les Insolites” – giant grasshopper, dog in a cage, obese copulating in a four-poster bed – recently exhibited at the Réfectoire des Cordeliers in Paris and at the Eduardo Sivori Museum in Buenos Aires. In 2010 he became Vice President of the Taylor Association. Knight of the French Order of Arts and Letters.
