Small Buddha head with excavated patina. The face, imbued with great serenity, is characterized by eyebrows with a finely-worked curve in slight relief, meeting above a blunt nose. Almond-shaped eyes with wide, half-open lids express a deep interiority. The mouth, with its full lips, reveals a pronounced smile, while the ears, with their distended lobes, symbolize the royal origin of the historical Buddha. The head is covered in small picots, with a thin band defining the hairline. The usnisa (cranial protuberance), reminiscent of a chignon in the early Buddhist era, is topped here by a high rasmi in the shape of a lotus bud.
