This sculpture is signed by Slovenian-born artist Gabrijel Kolbic (1913-1995).
He studied at the Fine Arts School in Maribor, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, graduating in 1948 after the war.
In Prague, he was a pupil of Josef Mařatka, himself a student of Rodin.
Mobilized and then imprisoned in Murmansk, he continued to work on sculpture, painting and drawing.
After the war, he returned to his hometown and helped restore the frescoes in St. Andrew's Church in Leskovac.
From 1947 until his retirement, he taught at the Maribor art school.
Renowned for his portraits and even his graffiti, today his works can be found in various museums and public places.
