Pan and cubs: bronze sculpture with brown patina, on a green marble and bronze base

The young faun is lying on his stomach and teasing with 2 cubs

Signed by the artist Emmanuel Frémiet and numbered 196

Slight wear to the patina and tiny chips to the marble.

Emmanuel Frémiet was a prolific French sculptor (1824-1910), a pupil of François Rude.
This model, created in 1964, is one of the few mythologically inspired groups of his career, and was exhibited at the Salon des Beaux-Arts the same year.
He carried out numerous state commissions, one of the most famous being Saint Michel terrassant le dragon, for the spire of Mont-Saint-Michel.
