Large covered pot with rich Egyptian-inspired decoration.
The body is adorned with wings and facing snakes, taken directly from the ornamentation of Egyptian temples and tombs. The lid's handle features the face of the goddess Hathor from the temple of Denderah.
This work can be likened to that of Giuseppe Parvis, who was active in Paris at the end of the 19th century, specializing in furniture and objects in the Egyptian style.
The base of our pot-cover is in onyx.
Good condition (slight dents to lid and base).
Verd 1880.
