    Bronze with brown patina, signed Charles Anfrie (1833-1905), French sculptor known for his many bronzes referring to historical, mythological and everyday life themes.
    The work, titled on the terrace “Sur la Brèche”, represents a lieutenant of the 12th regiment of Hussars, easily recognizable by his uniform decorated with frogs.
    The dashing officer is standing on the edge of a trench, a shell at his feet, binoculars in one hand and his sword in the other. He carefully scans the enemy lines.
