Bronze sculpture with a brown patina, "The Spinner," signed Mathurin Moreau on the back, and inscribed Colin&Cie Paris for the foundry.
Mathurin Moreau was a 19th-century French artist, born in 1822 and deceased in 1913. He was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1841 and won several prizes at exhibitions. He also participated in the 1855 World's Fair and served as a jury member for the 1900 Paris World's Fair. In 1879, Mathurin Moreau was elected mayor of the 19th arrondissement of Paris. This sculpture is in perfect condition, thanks to its magnificent patina and the precision of its carving. The subject is very realistic.
