    Brown patina bronze sculpture of Diane de Gabies - 19th century.
    This statue depicts the goddess of the hunt, called Artemis in Greek mythology, and Diana in Roman mythology, in the guise of a young woman hanging her cloak over her shoulder.
    For the story behind :
    The original statue was discovered in 1792 by Gavin Hamilton on the property of Prince Borghese in Gabies, not far from Rome, who sold it to Napoleon I in 1807 and it joined the Louvre museum in 1820.
