Beautiful bronze sculpture of a shepherdess and her dog, signed Abbal on the terrace.
André Abbal 1876-1953, sculptor of figures, busts and animals, was a pupil of Falguières and Mercié at the École des Beaux-arts in Paris.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1896.
In 1933, he also exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries, and that same year was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur.
An exhibition of his work was held at the Musée Galliera in 1956.
His work is characterized by direct carving, which gives his sculpture a rather rough style.
He received numerous commissions for public monuments, notably in Toulouse, Moissac and the Palais de Chaillot in Paris (exterior).
