Beautiful and large brown patina print by Adrien Etienne Gaudez (1845-1902) representing Miss Helyett walking a mountain path.
Operetta in 3 acts by Maxime Boucheron and Edmond Audran, Miss Helyett was first performed on November 12, 1890 at the Bouffes-Parisiens. While walking alone in the mountains as she does every day, she falls into a ravine. Held up by a branch hanging from her petticoat, she was saved by a passer-by.
This sculpture by Gaudez represents her dressed in a typical outfit of the belle époque. She is wearing a hat, a bodice and a voluminous drape. She is holding a large stick with a bow in her hand and climbing on rocks.
Charming and bucolic, this timeless work will charm you with its many details and its quality of execution.
