Important bronze made in the 19th century from one of Michelangelo's (1475-1564) sculptures.
This Florentine sculptor, painter, architect and poet is known for having created monumental works such as the ceiling fresco of the Sistine Chapel.
This bronze represents the marble statue which adorns the tomb of Lorenzo de Medici (1449-1492).
Both very close, Laurent de Medici, known as The Magnificent, was much more than a patron for Michelangelo. The consideration these two men had for each other still appears, as if engraved in the marble of the San Lorenzo basilica, where lies the one who was seen as the defender of Arts and Letters... Lorenzo il Magnifico.
This important work will appeal to lovers of the Italian High Renaissance, but also to art lovers.
