Superb bronze sculpture signed on the base depicting a shepherd and his dog.
Green patina

A sculptor and student of Toulouse's Alexandre Falguière and Antonin Mercié and of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Abbal exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1896.

After the 1914-1918 war, he was most often seen at the Salon d'Automne.
This proponent of direct carving received important official commissions for the Palais de Chaillot and the war memorials in Toulouse and Moissac.
