Founded in 1912 by René Guilleré, Primavera was the art studio of the Le Printemps department store. The idea was to offer furniture and art objects combining contemporary aesthetics, quality, and reasonable prices. The studio's success inspired other department stores to open studios after the First World War: La Maîtrise at Galeries Lafayette and Pomone at Le Bon Marché. The studio participated in numerous decorative art events, notably during the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts. The Primavera pavilion was one of the most notable for its originality, marking the history of the Art Deco movement.
