Extract from the ceramics magazine:
Marcel Giraud was born in 1927, in Vallauris, in the Mauruches district. Fascinated by the world of potters, he left school at the age of 13 for a tough apprenticeship as a wheeler in Blaise Rubino's workshop, for four years.
Eager to fully understand the traditional technique of cooking in a wood-fired oven, he worked from 1944 to 1946 at Tiola, a wood-fired oven construction company.
From 1956 to 1960, he worked with various ceramists to perfect his skills as a turner.
It was in 1960 that he opened his own workshop, rue François Donnet. Large production of culinary ceramics.
In 1975, he returned to his birthplace in the Mauruches district, and resumed the painting he had practiced since childhood, but at the same time began sculpting on stone and metal. These discoveries revived his creativity, and he launched into more sculptural ceramic production.
1990, when the time for retirement had come, Marcel Giraud only stopped for a short time, then resumed his creative adventure, pushing it even further.
