    <meta charset="UTF-8" />Large Canton porcelain vase - China, late 19th century circa 1880. Features classic palace scene decoration with numerous picturesque characters and polychrome fantasy animals and butterflies. Very cheerful, colorful decoration, enhanced with fine gold gilding.

    Canton porcelain shapes and vases were very popular in Europe in the late 19th century, imported from China in large quantities, shapes and sizes. This vase belongs to the top category: the porcelain is not white but slightly celadon-colored, the palace scenes are in beautiful gilded frames, and the color and gilding are deep. It is also characterized by its giant size, over 60cm high, making it an imposing and very spectacular piece. The silver salt shaker and the last photo "en décor" give an idea of the height.

    The vase is in very good condition, with a crack at the back, restored with some enamel. Vivid colors, unworn gilding.
