Peru, Mochica culture, superb old portrait vase featuring a male head in red terracotta, wearing a headdress forming a band above the forehead and covering the back of the skull, decorated with geometric motifs in dark red tones on a light beige background. The headdress is adorned with two conical attributes in high relief. The piece is hollow, wide open at the top of the head and with two small openings at the mouth. As the piece is tilted backwards, it can be used to hold water or any other liquid. Leaning forward, it allows water to be evacuated through the mouth, and could therefore be used as a vacuum cleaner. The overall quality is very high, both in the realism of the face and in the judicious arrangement of the geometric decoration. Provenance: Loire Valley collection. Height: 9 cm. Good condition, except for normal, minor wear and a slight rub on the tip of the nose. We take particular care with our packaging, using optimum protection. Shipping includes insurance.
