    Milk jug
    Painted soft porcelain
    Engraved mark D.V
    Dimensions : H. 13 (cm.)
    Mennecy, circa 1760

A very elegant milk jug of pan form. Small in size, it is decorated with bouquets and blue and old rose fillets. The lid is decorated with a fine imitation of a flower.

Probably produced during the Barbin or Evrard period (between 1748 and 1766). This piece may therefore have been decorated in Paris or Mennecy.

Provenance: Société Industrielle de Mulhouse for over a century, a learned society founded in 1826 by Protestant industrialists, and recognized as a public utility by a royal decree of 1832.

Bibliography: Tendre porcelaine de Mennecy Villeroy by Nicole Duchon, Maury, 2016
