Dating from the Guangxu (possibly early Republic) era, this lidded pot has been decorated with family scenes and is topped by a foo lion finial. The wire handles that would have been attached to the loops at the sides have disappeared, but it is otherwise complete and has what looks to be the remnants of an export stamp to the base.
The kamcheng has been used: please note the wear to some enamels and the gilding, some staining to the unglazed rims and a few chips to the interior rim of the lid. There are a few minor kiln faults and a hairline crack. All of these can be seen in the photos, so please have a good look, but if you want to ask questions or see more photos, please contact me.
This item was previously in the possession of the Henriot family (Quimper faience) and came from Chateau du Kerivoal.
The approximate dimensions are as follows: 15 cms high x 18 cms diameter; 897 g.
