This lovely, large arita dish was made in Japan probably in the late edo period. What makes this piece so special, indeed rare, are the wonderful geese depicted in the border. On the whole, it is very simply decorated in blue and white, quite minimalistic which really draws the eye to the pairs of geese and the waving grasses.
There is pattern on the outside and on the base six spur marks. The dish / deep plate - hard to know how best to describe the shape - is in excellent condition with just a few kiln faults and slight signs of use. If you need any more photos, or have any questions, please get in touch.
The approximate dimensions are : 28.5 cms diameter x 4.5 cms high; 980 g. Please remember that all import duties or local taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.
