Soft porcelain cookie statue of Falconet's Psyche Nymph as a young girl seated on a round base concealing the bow of Love. False Sèvres signature with an S, one of the signatures of the Samson factory, dating from the 19th century.

This model of Etienne Maurice Falconet's Nymph was created in 1761 and exhibited at the Salon, as a counterpart to the Amour Ménçant commissioned by Madame de Pompadour and exhibited at the Salon in 1757. This subject and its counterpart enjoyed great success throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, in a variety of materials: bisque, bronze, terracotta, marble... Our re-edition is typical of 18th-century taste reinterpreted in the 19th century; here, Manufacture Samson has added the wings of threatening love to the young girl, creating a highly successful composition.

The Samson family's "Manufacture de Porcelaines, faïences et terres cuites" (4 generations) is the finest example, in the field of fire art, of the interest shown in the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century in the styles of the past, from the 18th century to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and in all exotic styles, from Spain to Saxony and China. With a rich and varied output of excellent quality, the Samsons were imitation geniuses and the best reproducers of ancient ceramic art. The factory was awarded numerous medals at the Universal Exhibitions of the second half of the 19th century, giving it an international reputation, particularly among museums. In the 19th century, the factory was seen as an excellent manufacturer of perfect copies, but the perfection of its products and the renown it has acquired have made it a sought-after production for enthusiasts, the equivalent of Sormani in the world of ceramics.

Ideal to complete an 18th-century decor, these decorative objects are typical of the period, to be placed on a chest of drawers or mantelpiece to complement a clock, or on a festive table for a refined dinner party. It's an ornate piece from every angle, designed to be viewed from all sides, in the center of a table for example, or with its back to a mirror.

It is in perfect, accident-free condition (except for a missing rosebud on the base to the left of the subject: very discreet).
