Polychrome earthenware of Quimper, signed R.Micheau-Vernez on the terrace for the Henriot factory in the middle of the XXth century.
Robert Micheau-Vernez (1907-1989) is an emblematic Breton colorist painter. He is known for having worked for 30 years in the famous Quimper earthenware factory.
The artist represents a couple of Bigouden dancers prey to the torments of the wind. Hatted respectively with a headdress and a cap, the man and his rider are dressed in traditional clothes. They hold each other by the waist, moving forward, one imagines, to the steps of a Celtic music.
The work "Couple of Bigouden Dancers" is an ode to Breton folklore.
