This important Emilian painting of the 17th century must be referred to the exquisite production of the Bolognese school.
The splendid execution and the refined colors, obviously of the highest level, in fact suggest the attribution to a very talented author working in Bologna in the second half of the 17th century.
This composition, which sees the Virgin in prayer, bent to adore the sleeping Child and Saint John behind her, is in fact another sign of the great Bolognese pictorial culture of the late 17th century.
