Pendant of works made in oil on wood panel attributed to Henri Gaston DARIEN (1864-1926) representing studies of characters. These studies are to be put in relation with a large painting by the artist entitled "Place du châtelet, Paris" - Palais, Druet-Vizzavona funds (see photo at the end of the ad, unfortunately I have not found any more precise archive element).
In good condition, only one of these works bears a signature, the frames are offered with (trace of use, a hole in one of two).

Biography: Henri Gaston Darien, pseudonym of Henry Gaston Adrien, born in Paris on January 8, 1864, city where he died on January 7, 1926, is a French painter. A student of Jules Lefebvre and Antoine Guillemet, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français from 1886 where he presented landscapes. He then specialized in interior scenes and Parisian life and obtained an honorable mention in 1889, a medal in 1897 and 1899 then a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. He worked in winter in Paris, on subjects of Parisian life and in summer in Normandy; he then painted maritime scenes and landscapes. He created the decoration of the town hall of Vanves.
