Raphael Dubois (1888- 1960)
A Belgian painter from the post-impressionist movement, he is renowned for his luminous paintings of figures, scenes of life, landscapes, city views and still lifes. Pupil of E. Carpentier at the Académie de Liège between 1902 and 1903. He subsequently exhibited in Paris in 1911 to great acclaim. After the First World War, he settled in Montparnasse, where he painted from the motif. From 1930 to 1939, he lived in Nice, then in Paris and Brussels during the 1940-1945 war.
