Large portrait of children, oil on canvas, Napoleon III period.
Large oil on canvas from the Napoleon III period circa 1860, depicting a double full-length portrait of children, probably two sisters. They are seated on a bench; the younger one has a basket of flowers resting on her knees, holding a rosebud, very elegant. The older one is wearing a green satin dress with beautiful lace, while the younger one is wearing a white satin dress also trimmed with lace.
Great fluidity in the painting, quality detail, the face treated with expression and finesse. This painting was probably created in Vienna, Austria, as indicated by the inscription on the back of the canvas: "W. Koller & cie in Wien silberne médaille."
This painting has not been restored, the canvas and original stretcher are presented in a beautiful period frame made of wood and gilt stucco. The frame, which is probably the original, has some small flaws.
