VERY NICE OIL PAINTING BY COIGNARD CIRCA60. LA BRETONNE.
James Coignard, painter, ceramist, sculptor and engraver, was born in Tours in 1925.
At the age of 23, he discovered the landscapes of the Côte d'Azur, which inspired him to attend the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in Nice.
His meeting with Paul Hervieu in 1950 was to prove decisive. His collaboration with Galerie Hervieu brought him recognition in the art world and abroad, particularly in Scandinavia. The artist's work can be found in numerous museums in the United States.
