Beautiful 19th-century gilded wood frame
Eliseo Meifrén Roig was a Spanish Impressionist painter. After studying at the Escola de la Llotja in Barcelona, he moved to Paris in 1879. He produced small canvases, portraits and urban landscapes. He then traveled to Italy and returned to Spain in 1881, where he began participating in the National Fine Arts Exhibition. In 1892, Meifren returned to Paris and began working with the French Impressionists. He enjoyed success at the end of the 19th century, exhibiting both in South America and Europe.
Our painting is perhaps one of the small pictures Meifren produced early in his career when he came to Paris in 1879.
