Wonderfull oil on canvas by Louis Clesse , Belgian School (1889 -1961 ). Clesse was a Belgian figurative, post-impressionist painter, watercolorist and etcher. He was known for his landscapes and harbor scenes. Clesse's style is a successful combination of realism and impressionism, strongly influenced by Emile Claus, Franz Courtens and Isidore Verheyden. It is an art that shows a great love for the land, with attention to light, color, atmosphere, all this translated into oil with remarkable skill and sense of design. Clesse worked systematically in the open air, even on relatively large formats; but in addition he also produced many studio pieces, usually reworkings of open-air sketches.
