Early 19th century French school, antique scene from a history painting: Aeneas telling Dido about the misfortunes of Troy, after the work by Pierre Narcisse Guérin in 1815, presented in the collections of the Musée du Louvre. Aeneas seated opposite Dido, half-reclining on a bed with one arm on her knee and the other around the shoulder of the child seated next to her. A woman leaning against the back of the bed. Oil on canvas presented in its gilded wood frame in the Empire style and from the Restoration period. Circa 1820.
