This charming painting signed C. Gasparini represents a view of the Concorde from the Tuileries gardens. A few figures, seated in the foreground, behind the balustrade, are wrapped up in their coats. Behind them we can see one of the eight statues symbolizing the major cities of France and the top of the street lamps that light up the square at night. In the distance, we can make out the dome of the Gand Palais and the first trees that line the beginning of the Champs Élysées. The light is that of a late winter afternoon, we imagine these sweet days when, in good weather, the winter ending makes us want to stroll a few more moments, well covered under the setting sun.
