This oil on cardboard is from the late 19th century, probably a Barbizon work. There's a lot of light on the young girl carrying a jug, and a lovely rendering of her face.
No doubt the hand of an artist, given the quality of the rendering in the foliage and light.
There's a name on the back, "Karl Schneider München", probably the supplier of the cardboard. There is writing on the back of the cardboard, but we can't read it, so we'll be in touch for any information.
The work has not been cleaned or restored, but remains in acceptable condition, surrounded by an attractive original stuccoed gilded baguette frame.
There is some rubbing and wear, and a small hole near the bottom of the dress.
For condition, please enlarge the photos.
Feel free to zoom in.
