Max Kahn (born April 22, 1857, Mannheim; died February 23, 1939, Carpentras, France) was a German portrait and genre painter active in Frankfurt am Main. Kahn spent his youth in Frankfurt, where he was a pupil of Angilbert Goebel in 1881/82. From 1882 to 1885, he continued his studies in Munich with Karl Karger; from 1884 to 1889 he studied at the Munich Academy with Nikolaus Gysis and Ludwig von Löfftz. He then moved to Paris, where he worked temporarily at the Académie Julian with Tony Robert-Fleury and remained there until 1914. In 1893 he traveled to Italy, in 1897 and 1898 to Holland. He also spends several months almost every year on the island of Bréhat in Brittany. Kahn mainly painted genre scenes of rural life and portraits. Between 1890 and 1914, he regularly attended the Parisian salon of the Society of French Artists, the 1902 exhibition in Versailles and the 1898 international exhibition in Barcelona. From 1894 he also repeatedly presented the Great Berlin Art Exhibition and the Glass Palace in Munich. Max Kahn has received numerous awards from various institutions.
