Painting made in oil on canvas, unsigned but from the sale of the studio funds of Marcelle GUETTA-FATTAL (1922-2009) - see attached bio.
Very beautiful workmanship - we find in its touch of Fauvism, the influence of Cubism to Expressionism but also of Matisse's nudes. In good condition (an old and discreet restoration, a slight dent, everything is visible in the photo).

Size of the frame: 73 / 92 cm

Biography: Marcelle Guetta, painter, was born in Alexandria, Egypt, on January 16, 1922. Very early on she felt the need to express herself through art. Friend of Marcel Laurent Salinas, Lawyer, but above all Painter, and friend himself of André Lhôte, then of Picasso (with whom he collaborated), and many others, she is immersed in the cultural movement of the 40s/50s. She lived in particular in Alexandria which is, at that time, a cosmopolitan city where various artists rub shoulders, in a prestigious setting called: the Alliance Française, which allows creators to meet, and to participate in all the important events, including, for example, the 3rd Alexandria Biennale, in the years 1958, under the presidency of Nasser. Very quickly, Marcelle Guetta gets noticed, appreciated and becomes a rising star in Alexandria. Unfortunately, in the following years, Egyptian politics leads to massive departures to other destinations, United States, Canada, Europe, where Marcelle Guetta, who became "Guetta Fattal", chooses with her family to settle. She will remain in France, in Paris, where she will continue her artistic activity through painting and sculpture, participating in many exhibitions, until the end of her life, without ever stopping. Marcelle Guetta Fattal died in Paris on November 29, 2009, leaving a rich, joyful body of work, full of hope and life.
The "Figurative Alternative" or "Young Painting": at the end of the Second World War, the 1950s in France are characterized by the expression of existential questions, reflections of the anguish and uncertainties of a humanity that discovers the extent of the Nazi horror, then the disillusionment of the Cold War. This period reveals a new generation of painters matured precociously by the suffering and deprivation of the dark years. They propose a vision of the world where Man, and not the Idea, occupies a central place. Half a century has passed. The time has come to pay tribute to these artists, to these collectors, public and private, who were keen to defend a figurative alternative in the face of conquering abstraction. Françoise Adnet, Paul Aïzpiri, Jean-Pierre Alaux, Guy Bardone, Richard Bellias, Yves Brayer, André Brasilier, Bernard Buffet, Jacques Busse, Jean-Marie Calmettes, Jean Chevolleau, Paul Collomb, Jean Commère, Jean Cortot, Daniel Dalmbert, Michel de Gallard, René Genis, Raymond Guerrier, Vincent Guignebert, Paul Guiramand, Camille Hilaire, Jean Jansem, Jacques Lagrange, Bernard Lorjou, André Marchand, Jean Marzelle, André Minaux, Marcel Mouly, Michel Patrix, Pierre-Henry, Jean Pollet, Raoul Pradier, Daniel Ravel, Paul Rebeyrolle, Claude Schürr, Éliane Thioller, Michel Thompson, Louis Toffoli, Maurice Verdier, Claude Weisbuch and Marcelle GUETTA-FATTAL (1922-2009).
