The two scenes depict the poultry seller and the poultry seller.
After the two pendants by Gabriel Metsu (1629-1667), preserved at the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Dresden.

Metsu brilliantly depicted the popular life of markets and taverns, while contrasting with scenes from the lives of the wealthy classes and their salons, thus demonstrating a great diversity in his work. Influenced by Rembrandt, he applied the principles of light and shadow to a variety of subjects, creating group scenes or portraits in varied environments, with remarkable attention to the texture of fabrics, comparable to that of Gerard ter Borch and De Hooch.
