DIAZ Gérard was born on October 27, 1938 in Mostaganem, Algeria. He studied from 1954 to 1957 at the École des Beaux Arts in Oran, Algeria, then from 1957 to 1961 at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. He has lived in Paris since 1957. In 1968, he became founding president of the Biennale Internationale de l'Estampe in Paris.

In 1959, 1962, 1964 and 1967, he exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. In 1965, he took part in the Salon des grands et jeunes d'aujourd'hui, in 1968 in the Salon des comparaisons, in 1968 at Galerie La Hune with La sérigraphie, in 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973 at the Salon de Mai, in 1970 for "Cent artistes dans la ville" in Montpellier. In 1970 and 1978, DIAZ Gérard exhibited at Galerie Storme in Lille, in 1969 at Galerie Fachetti in Paris, in 1968 at Galerie Michel Cassé in Paris, in 1972 at Galerie Gordon in Tel Aviv, and at SafraiGallery in Jerusalem, Israel.
