DIAZ Gérard was born on October 27, 1938 in Mostaganem, Algeria. He studied from 1954 to 1957 at the École des Beaux Arts in Oran, Algeria, then from 1957 to 1961 at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris. He has lived in Paris since 1957. In 1968, he became founding president of the Biennale Internationale de l'Estampe in Paris.
