A portrait, landscape and animal painter, he studied with his father Barthélémy. He first became a skilled sculptor and then a painter and his paintings had an international reputation during his lifetime.

Executed using the "badgering" process which made the paint smooth and velvety, his paintings were bathed in a golden light characteristic of his most beautiful works.
His reputation was international during his lifetime and he received numerous distinctions in several countries.

Mainly an animal painter, it is rarer to find subjects like this "Backyard of a Dutch house". This subject was more widely covered by Peter Frans Noter II.

He is present in museums in New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Montreal, Munich etc.

Peter Frans II NOTER 1779/1842
Painter, sculptor, draftsman and engraver. Son of the architect Pierre François le Vieux and was a student of JF Van Geel. He mainly painted landscapes and city views, highlighting the architectural prowess of Dutch houses.
He is also present in many museums including Liège, Amsterdam, Cologne etc.
