GELIS (Daniel), French painter born in 1942. The talent of this artist was recognized very young because it was during his first Parisian exhibition at the age of 27 that gallery owners invited him to exhibit in the United States, in Moscow, Switzerland, Canada and Tokyo. Official orders are not long in coming and public collections are acquiring key works. The recognition of art professionals is also there since he obtained the silver and gold medals at the Salon des Artiste Français. Daniel GELIS is constantly between the figurative and the abstraction. His blended and harmoniously placed colors bring a particular delicacy to his compositions.
This magnificent work from the 1970s features a female nude. Titled “Nu au divan rouge”, it was sold in 1978 by the France Art gallery then based on rue Vernet in Paris VIII to a couple of collectors. The certificate of authenticity then given to buyers accompanies this very pretty painting (visible in a photograph). Signature by the artist's hand at the bottom left of the composition.
Work in good condition in its original frame, also well preserved.
