We will no longer introduce this famous artist who delivers here a magnificent work representing 3 young women elegantly dressed in the fashion of the 1920s-1930s accompanied by two traditional bouquets of flowers that they hold in their hands.
Richness of colors, precision of details and more particularly of the finesse of the flower petals (a model of its kind), mastery of light and contrasts, everything is there. 3 women but also 3 different facial expressions for a perfect balance. A real treat for the eyes. Absolutely superb !

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Charles LEVIER is a French painter born on January 26, 1920 in Corsica from a French father and an American mother. At seventeen, he entered the National School of Decorative Arts. The war interrupted his studies and he went to North Africa to enlist. When the American troops arrived, his English skills enabled him to become a liaison officer between the French Army and the American OSS.
After the conflict, Charles LEVIER decides not to resume his studies and sets up his studio in the USA, while maintaining close ties with France. His first personal exhibition takes place in Lyon, in the Constantine gallery, two years later. Charles LEVIER then enjoyed notable success on the American West Coast, with an exhibition in Los Angeles in 1950. In 1955, his reputation was well established and he exhibited solo in Paris and New York in two prestigious galleries: the "Galerie du Colisée" and the "Lilienfeld Gallery". The notoriety of Charles LEVIER explodes in the USA where many private collectors compete for his paintings. He is received on television in many talk shows.
Charles LEVIER's painting is very representative of the figurative movement of the "Trente Glorieuses". Colorist full of vitality without being aggressive, LEVIER is inspired by cubist visual concepts while respecting legibility and resemblance to the model. According to the program "Tell the truth" in which he participated in 1953, he also seems to paint under other identities or pseudonyms (Jacou, Monfort, Roberval) works of a style different from that which made him famous. His art, all in delicacy and optimism, is never committed and gives itself the mission of representing a world full of beauty and lightness. For these reasons, he is much more famous in the USA than in France where he suffered from the hostility of official criticism advocating abstraction as well as his success with the American elites.
The works of Charles LEVIER are present in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, the Museum of Seattle, the Museum of Atlanta, etc...
Among his private collectors have figured, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin as well as Baron Edmond de Rothschild or Prince and Princess Poniatoski and numerous other famous people.
He died on September 3, 2003 in Westhampton Beach, NY, USA.
