Oil on canvas signed lower left JADIN.
Charles Emmanuel JADIN, a painter born in Paris in 1843, traveled to North Africa like many of his contemporaries.
Son of Louis Jadin, he studied with his father before joining Cabanel's studio. He made his debut at the 1868 Salon. A member of the Artistes Français since 1885, he exhibited genre and history subjects at the Salon. He also won a medal in Philadelphia, and his still life "Musical Attributes" is on display at the Dieppe Museum.
