    Biography :
Georges Planes, born in Paris in 1897, studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. After his studies, he began working as an illustrator for newspapers while continuing to paint.
In the 1920s, he exhibited his works at art salons in Paris, where he received praise. During World War II, he joined the French Resistance. After the war, he resumed his artistic career and continued to exhibit his paintings in France and abroad. Georges Planès also taught at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs.
He died in 1977, leaving behind an important artistic legacy.
His work is varied and includes oil paintings, watercolors and drawings. He was influenced by the great masters of French painting such as Claude Monet, Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard.
Planes was known for his use of color and light to create atmosphere in his paintings. He also used impressionist painting techniques by applying quick strokes of paint and playing with texture.
His landscapes often depict scenes from northern France, including the streets of Paris, the beaches of Normandy, and the small villages of the French countryside. He also painted portraits, still lifes and scenes of daily life.
In 2018, a retrospective exhibition of his work entitled "Georges Planes, a light on France" took place at the Taylor Foundation in Paris. The exhibition featured 88 works by Planes, including landscapes, portraits and still lifes. His paintings are sought after by collectors.
