This oil on canvas was produced in the 1930s and depicts a careening basin, probably in Marseille.
It bears a signature - we can read Denys H. or Lenys H. - but the handwriting has yet to be identified. We haven't found any information that matches the signature, so we'll keep an eye out for it.
We can see a steam tug at the quay, various fishing boats in the foreground and, in the background, a stone dike and the open sea.
The technique is very interesting and well mastered, no doubt the hand of an experienced artist.
You'll note an old tension band, some minor rubbing and wear, but the work remains largely presentable.
Sold uncleaned, unrestored.
