Oil painting on Isorel, titled on the back "Chalutier et Thoniers", signed Georges Lhermitte (1882-1967).
Lhermitte was a French painter who graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, specializing in architecture.
Born in Paris, this Breton at heart spent much of his artistic life painting the everyday life of fishing ports.
"Chalutier et Thoniers" depicts a fishing scene. Preparing to set sail, the fishermen take to their boats in small craft.
This painted isorel panel is highlighted by an antique white frame with gold fillet.
A faithful work, right down to the reflections of a peaceful sea that's more real than life.
