Beautiful marine painting depicting a harbor scene in Concarneau. Several boats are moored, with buildings in the background. Colors are mainly shades of blue, gray and white, with a few touches of yellow and red. In the foreground, a figure wearing a yellow oilskin and a cap can be seen working on one of the boats. The atmosphere is misty, suggesting a cloudy morning. The molded frame is gilded and lacquered in black. The artist's name and date, "Blaszczyk St. 91", can be seen in the lower right-hand corner.
Stanislas BLASZCZYK (1944-2006) was born in September 1944 in a labor camp in Singen, Poland, where his parents were incarcerated during the Occupation. On liberation, he returned to Paris, where he worked as a hairdresser before taking up painting. After living in Vesoul, he moved to L'Ile-d'Elle in 1991, first on rue du Sabbat, then on Route de Fontenay. He paints many canvases, which he sells himself or through galleries in La Rochelle and Paris.
