Fortuné CAR 1905 / 1970 :
Fortuné Car was born in Marseille in 1905 and died in 1970.
A famous Provencal artist, he came from a family where painting was handed down from generation to generation.
In the 1930s, he took over the studio of his uncle, a theater decorator.
This vast workshop enabled him to create sets, and he then turned to easel painting.
He soon found his niche in the vein of Provençal painting, with its scenes of fishermen.
His strong, colorful painting is enriched by a beautiful material born of his mastery of the brush and, above all, the knife.
His image as a painter of Provence was exported, particularly to Canada, where he was a member of the Royal Academy of Painting in Montreal.
